CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Spencer
Liang of the Harvard women's tennis team has been named
to the All-Ivy League tennis team as the freshman was selected to
the second team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
In her first season in Cambridge, Liang picked up her first
second-team accolade thanks to a 17-14 singles record exclusively
as the Crimson's ace. The rookie from Potomac, Md., finished
the dual slate with a 7-9 mark and went 1-6 against Ancient Eight
opponents.
Liang, who ranked as high as No. 107 on the ITA national singles
list, helped Harvard down three ranked opponents this year
including then-No. 11 Clemson, 4-3, Feb. 21, representing the first
time the Crimson upset a top-15 opponent under the guidance of head
coach Traci Green. Harvard concluded the season 11-8 overall
and 3-4 in conference play to finish fifth in the Ivy League.
