CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two Harvard swimming freshmen, Regan Kology and Shane McNamara, have been named to the 2014-15 USA Swimming National Junior Team, it was announced this week.

Kology, who recently earned the bronze medal at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Maui, Hawaii, qualified for the open water 10k for the women's team. McNamara, hailing from Tappan, New York, qualified for the men's team at nationals in the 200 breaststroke, posting the second-fastest time of 2:15.70.

Kology, from Chatham, New Jersey, has had great success prior to her coming to Cambridge, swimming in the Junior National Championships, the Junior Pan Pacific Championships and the FINA World Junior Open Water Championships throughout her high school career. McNamara is a part of a solid incoming freshman class for the Harvard men's swimming and diving team, having been named the New Jersey Male Swimmer of the Year and a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Both men's and women's swimming and diving programs officially get underway with competition Nov. 15 when both Cornell and Dartmouth pay visits to Blodgett Pool for tri-meets.
