Li scored clinching point to give Harvard its third win of the year (Zack Williamson).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a matchup between the two highest-ranked teams in the Boston area, No. 49 Harvard women's tennis prevailed over No. 60 Boston College, 4-3. The win was the second-straight for the Crimson.
Harvard (3-1) gained its fourth and final point of the contest when captain Sylvia Li defeated Boston College's (1-3) Wan-Yi Sweeting in the sixth singles position, 6-2, 6-3. With the victory Li added to her singles win streak, which now stands at seven matches.
The Crimson also earned singles wins from Nikki Kallenberg in the second slot, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4, and Annika Ringblom in the fourth, 6-1, 6-1.
In what would end up being a pivotal doubles point, Harvard conquered the Eagles in the second and third positions to get out to an early lead. Ringblom paired with Monica Lin at No. 2 and secured a 6-3 win, while Li and Amanda Lin picked up a 6-3 win of their own from No 3.
Harvard returns to the Murr Center on February 8 when it hosts North Texas. The doubles matches will begin at 11 a.m., and will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
