CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard field hockey (7-5, 2-2 Ivy) enters the home stretch of its 2015 regular season campaign by hosting No. 20 Princeton Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Harvard Field Hockey Stadium. Fans can watch the game live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Where We Stand
Harvard will be looking to bounce back after a tough weekend that saw it drop consecutive games for the first time this season. The Crimson lost a critical battle at Cornell Saturday, 1-0, dropping Harvard to 2-2 in conference play and into a tie for fourth in the Ivy standings with Columbia. Harvard now trails 4-0 Princeton, as well as 3-1 Penn and Cornell.
Alumnae Weekend
Harvard will be welcoming back its field hockey alumnae this Saturday and honoring those in attendance during a ceremony at halftime. Alumnae weekend is coinciding with the Harvard Varsity Club's Hall of Fame induction weekend that will see field hockey alumnae Kate Schoolwerth '00 earn induction at Friday night's dinner. Schoolwerth is the sixth field hockey student-athlete to earn induction into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame, joining: Betty Richey '34, Kathryn A Martin '83, Charlotte Joslin '90, Carrol "Ceci" Clark Enge '92 and Judy Collins '99.
Balleza Leads the Charge
For the third straight season, junior forward Marissa Balleza has reached the 20-point plateau. Against New Hampshire Sunday, Balleza scored her 10th goal of the season, marking just the 14th time in program history that a player has had at least 10 goals in a season. Balleza accomplished the feat during her freshman season when she recorded 12 goals. Her tally against UNH also gave her 24 points on the year, tied for 10th most in a single-season.

Scouting Princeton
The Tigers have been at the forefront of Ivy League field hockey for over two decades, winning at least a share of every conference title since 1994, with exception to 2004 when Harvard and Penn shared championship honors. Princeton has aligned itself for similar success this season, posting a 4-0 mark against the Ancient Eight and obtaining a No. 20 national ranking in this week's NFHCA poll.
Princeton holds an overall record of 7-5, but each of its five losses have come against a team ranked higher than it. This includes its most recent loss on Sunday at No. 1 Syracuse where the Tigers fell, 4-2, to the Orange. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Tigers.
Princeton shares the offensive responsibilities, as six players have at least 11 points this season. Leading the way is Maddie Copeland with a team-high 10 goals and 22 points. Nicole Catalino is second with six tallies, while Teresa Benvenuti has eight assists. Anya Gersoff has started all 12 games in goal, boasting a save percentage of .681 and a goals-against average of 2.45.
Up Next
Harvard has its final two home games of the season next week, hosting No. 17 Boston University, Wednesday, Oct. 28 and Dartmouth, Saturday, Oct. 31.
