No. 19 Men's Water Polo Sweeps Second Day of The Rodeo Tournament

Harvard held Santa Clara to a season-low two goals (Gil Talbot).

Santa Clara, Calif. – No. 19 Harvard men's water polo swept a pair of games on its second day of competition at The Rodeo Tournament, downing No. 16 Santa Clara, 7-2, in the opener before edging Fresno Pacific in the nightcap, 13-9.

In the opener against the host, Santa Clara, Noah Harrison, Joey Colton and Robbie Fluegge provided a trio of goals as the Crimson claimed a 3-1 advantage after the first period. Colin Chiapello, Dan Stevens and Blake Lee provided another triplet of scoring in the second frame as Harvard outscored Santa Clara 3-1 once again to take a 6-2 lead into the half.

Viktor Wrobel scored the lone goal of the second half as Harvard cruised to a 7-2 win. Colin Woolway and Anthony Ridgley split time in net, making seven saves combined, en route to holding Santa Clara to a season-low two goals, marking the first time the Crimson have held an opponent to two goals since a 21-2 win over Cal Tech on Oct. 9, 2010.

Harvard cruised to a 13-9 victory over Fresno Pacific in its second contest of the day to complete the Saturday sweep. Harrison opened the game with a pair of goals as part of a game-high five score effort, giving the Crimson a 4-1 lead. The Sunbirds battled back with four goals of their own to cut Harvard's lead to 6-5 at the half.

Harrison netted a trio of second half goals, while Stevens, Chaipello and Colton each found the back of the net as Harvard secured a 13-9 win.

The Crimson improved to 12-8 on the season and will close out the tournament with matches against a pair of ranked teams in No. 13 Air Force and No. 10 UC Davis tomorrow.
