BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Harvard wrestling team dropped a road match at No. 12 Lehigh, 36-3, Sunday afternoon.
The Crimson (1-7, 0-6 EIWA) will return home to host Brown and Johnson & Wales Saturday, Feb. 14. Match times are 12 and 4 p.m., respectively, and the action will be shown live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Todd Preston, ranked No. 15 at 141 lbs., rode out No. 20 Randy Cruz of Lehigh (11-4, 7-1), winning the bout, 2-0, after picking up a point earlier in the match for an escape. Preston's win narrowed the Crimson deficit to 11-3 after three matches. With the win, Preston also improved to 3-0 on the weekend and 8-0 in dual meets this season.
In another match of ranked wrestlers, No. 14 James Fox led 13th-ranked Elliot Riddick, 3-1, after two periods. However, in the final moments of the match, Riddick escaped and earned a takedown of Fox to win the match, 7-3.
In the heavyweight bout, David Ng took Doug Vollaro to the second overtime, but Vollaro emerged with a 2-1 win in the extra time to cap the scoring, 36-3.
