PONTE VERDA, Fla. - My name is a Victor Newell and I'm a rising junior on the varsity men's ice hockey team. This summer I have had the amazing opportunity of interning with the PGA Tour at their headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Looking to gain work experience in either Business/Finance or something in the sports industry, my internship at the PGA Tour has allowed me to accomplish both at the same time. The department to which I was assigned based off of my interviewed interests was Digital - Business Development. Currently I'm working on researching a number of companies for potential title sponsors for various tournaments in Latin America and Europe. I am also doing research for a new Over The Top venture called PGA Tour Live, which will provide an on-demand streaming of PGA Tour tournaments via Wi-Fi across any device. The part I like best about my internship is that a large part of what I am doing is to find ways to growth the game of golf globally.
The PGA Tour headquarters is located at TPC Sawgrass. A championship course that has one of the most famous island greens in golf (Hole No. 17). I look forward to having the opportunity of playing such a world-renowned golf course. In my spare time, I have had the pleasure meeting a number of Harvard alumni in the PGA Tour organization, and I have spent the bulk of my time outside the office working out and training for this upcoming hockey season. I look forward to getting back on campus in the fall to start another successful season this winter with the Crimson. Wishing the Crimson community the best of luck with all of their summer endeavors!
Best,
Victor Newell, Class of 2017
