USATF Junior Championships Results

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Erin Dietz and Hannah Jackson, both incoming freshmen on the Harvard women's track and field team, have earned spots on the U.S. squad set to compete at the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada from July 31 – August 2.

"I'm excited to see Erin and Hannah compete at the Pan Am Championships and continue the rich tradition of Harvard Track and Field," stated Jason Saretsky, The William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. "We are proud of all of the Harvard affiliated track athletes competing for their countries this summer – past, present and with Erin and Hannah – future."

Dietz will sport the red, white and blue after finishing as the runner-up in the 3,000 meter race at the USATF Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon in late June. Dietz's time of 9:37.41 represented a personal best for the Bedford, Massachusetts, native and was less than .8 seconds off the winning time. Her Pan Am qualifying mark in the 3,000 meter came just one day after she finished third in the 5,000 meter race.

Sprinter Hannah Jackson was among the six athletes selected as a part of the 4x100 meter relay pool. Louisiana's Gatorade Female Track Athlete of the Year posted times of 11.62 in the 100 and 23.59 in the 200 meter dashes to earn her selection into the relay pool. Her 200 meter time of 23.59 was good for fourth overall and bested her time of 23.73 she posted at the Louisiana Class 5A State Championships, which broke a 22-year old record. Jackson is the lone high school athlete selected as a part of the pool as the other five have completed their freshman years of college.
