Harvard Falls Twice on Opening Day of Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard men's water polo team fell in its first two games of the Princeton Invitational, falling 21-6 to No. 5 Pacific in its first game, and 16-12 to Princeton in the nightcap.

In the opening game against No. 5 Pacific, Dan Stevens netted Harvard's lone goal of the first quarter as Pacific jumped out to take a 5-1 lead. Harvard fought back in the second quarter to make it a 9-4 game as Nick Bunn, Blake Lee and Noah Harrison each found the back of the net.

Grayson Judge and Grant Harvey scored in the second half, but it was not enough as Harvard fell, 21-6, in the opener.

In the nightcap against No. 11 Princeton, Harvard gave the host all it could handle before falling 16-12.

Princeton took a 5-4 edge after the first quarter, but Harvard hung close, and trailed 10-8 at the half. The Tigers pulled away in the second half, outscoring Harvard 3-2 in each quarter and handed Harvard a 16-12 loss.

Harrison had a huge day for Harvard, netting four goals, including three against Princeton. Harrison also added in five assists on the day.

Blake Lee had a strong performance once again, scoring a goal in each game and posted a team-high three assists against Princeton.

Harvard will close out play at the Princeton Invitational with two games tomorrow. The Crimson will take on Diablo Valley in an exhibition at 8:30 a.m. before closing out play against Santa Clara at 2 p.m.
