"Rivalry on Ice" Returns to Madison Square Garden with Special Double-Header: Army vs. Navy and Harvard vs. Quinnipiac on Jan. 9, 2016

Tickets on Sale Today for Third Annual "Rivalry on Ice" Hockey Series (Steve Musco)

NEW YORK – One of the most enduring rivalries in college sports will debut at Madison Square Garden as Army and Navy face off in the "Rivalry on Ice" double-header hockey series on Jan. 9, 2016.  The "inter-service" exhibition game will follow the exciting ECAC inter-league game between national hockey powerhouses Harvard and Quinnipiac.  This match-up is momentous for both teams as Harvard won the ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship last season while Quinnipiac won the ECAC regular season championship.

Now in its third year, "Rivalry on Ice" is expanding to a double-header format to bring even more exciting college rivalries to the World's Most Famous Arena.  Hockey legend Mark Messier will continue in the role of brand ambassador, and will be joined by special guests in the puck dropping ceremony.  In the past, Secretary of State John Kerry, former NY Governor George Pataki and NY Rangers hero Mike Richter participated in the opening ceremonies.

Tickets are on sale now to the general public through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) and the Madison Square Garden website (www.thegarden.com).  Both games are included in the ticket price.  Harvard-Quinnipiac kicks off at 7:30 p.m., and Army-Navy will follow immediately after.

Harvard fans can also purchase tickets through the Harvard Athletic Ticket Office or at tickets.gocrimson.com.  Quinnipiac fans can purchase tickets at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center Ticket office or at QuinnipiacBobcats.com.  Army fans can purchase tickets at goarmywestpoint.com.   Navy fans can purchase tickets at through the Navy Ticket Office or at NavySports.com.   Tickets are also available at the Madison Square Garden box office.

The "Rivalry on Ice" series (www.rivalryonice.com) is part of a multi-year agreement, in which Leverage Agency handles full 360 marketing and promotion for the event.

"I'm always looking for ways to bring new and exciting events to unexpected places," said Ben Sturner, Chief Executive Officer of Leverage Agency.  "The original idea behind 'Rivalry on Ice' was to bring famous college football rivalries to the hockey rink at Madison Square Garden.  We had great success our first two years, and I'm thrilled to bring new teams and rivalries to fans and alumni.  I'm looking forward to a full-house with Midshipmen, Cadets, Crimson and Bobcats all under one roof."
