Strong Sunday Performances Cap 2016 ECAC Championship for Women's Swimming and Diving

Claire Pinson and her teammates concluded competition at the ECAC Championships Sunday (Harvard Athletics).

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Harvard women's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2016 ECAC Championships with strong performances in the 200 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 400 freestyle relay.

In the 200 fly, the Crimson placed two swimmers in the finals. Freshmen Valerie Yoshimura and Claire Pinson came in sixth and seventh, respectively. Yoshimura's time was clocked at 2:03.60, while Pinson's was at 2:04.04. Harvard and Virginia were the only two schools with multiple qualifiers in the finals.

In the 400 free relay, Yoshimura was the first leg and Pinson anchor, with Holly Christensen and Summer Schmitt filling the middle two legs on their way to a sixth-place finish. The Crimson finished in 3:31.69.

Junior Savannah Butler was also in action, competing in the B-final of the 200 breast, taking seventh.

Harvard turns its sights to the NCAA's now, with the Zone Diving Championships being held March 7-9 back in Annapolis. The NCAA Championship Meet will be held in Atlanta, March 17-19.
