CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Kathleen Young and freshman Hannah Pearce each scored a pair of goals to lead No. 13 Harvard (9-2, 3-0 Ivy League) to a 7-0 win over Brown (1-9, 0-3 Ivy League) at Berylson Field. Harvard outshot Brown 30-2 for the game in another dominant performance, as the Crimson won its seventh straight game and 12 in a row in Ivy play.
Harvard struck first with Young notching her first of the game on a redirection in front, with Tarrant making a nice play to get the ball to her in close for the goal at 6:22.
Young added her second of the game and her team leading 10th goal of the season, running along the end line and scoring from in close at 14:18.
Freshman Hannah Pearce made it 3-0 putting a rebound off a penalty corner shot by van Vlijmen.
Olivia Allin closed out the half, converting Harvard's fourth straight penalty corner with no time left on the clock with a well-placed shot into the lower left corner.
Harvard scored two quick goals early in the second half to put the game away for good. Pearce notched her second goal of the season on a great low shot off a penalty corner at 52:38. Then senior captain Hannah Wellington scored just over a minute later, finishing off a 2-on-1 pass from Maddie Earle at 53:47 to put the Crimson up 6-0.
Bente van Vlijmen got on the scoreboard late, scoring her ninth goal of the season on a hard shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner at 68:46.
Harvard Highlights:
- Junior Kathleen Young has 20 points (nine goals, two assists) during her eight game scoring streak. Young has a new career high with a team-best 23 points (10 goals, three assists) on the year.
- Freshman Hannah Pearce recorded her second career two-goal game and has five goals on 17 shots this season. She is fourth on the team with a .294 shooting percentage.
- Casey Allen, Ellie Cookson, and Maddie Earle each recorded two assists on the night. For Allen, it was a new career high.
Game Notes:
- Harvard has outscored teams 38-5 during its seven game winning streak. The Crimson set a program record in 2016 with an eight-game winning streak on route to a program best 12 wins.
- Harvard recorded its most lopsided win ever against Brown in a series that dates back to 1974. Harvard has now topped seven goals in a game three times this season.
