NEWTON, Mass. – In a game dominated for long stretches by the Crimson, No. 13 Harvard (9-3) field hockey fell, 2-1, in a shootout to No. 8 Boston College (9-5) at Newton Field Hockey Complex, snapping a seven game winning streak.

Freshman Hannah Pearce scored the lone goal for the Crimson, tying the game midway through the first half. Harvard outshot BC 10-3 in the second half, and 19-14 for the game, but could not get the decisive goal past BC goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer (eight saves).

Harvard goalie Libby Manela (five saves) was equally excellent. She came up with her biggest stop of the game, kicking away a shot by Jaime Natale at the 47:00 mark. Five minutes later, Manela made a lunging stop on BC's Alesandra Miller after coming out of the net to break up a chance for the Eagles.

In the first extra frame, Bente van Vlijmen's reverse stick shot sailed just high and wide in the third minute of OT, then her shot from straightaway was kicked away from Dwyer with 5:00 left in the first extra frame.

In the second overtime Olivia Allin's penalty stroke was again stopped by Dwyer. The Eagles won the shootout, 2-1.

In an evenly played first half, BC got on the scoreboard first, as Carly Kauffman scored from the top of the circle on a penalty corner at 17:06 to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.

Pearce tied the game at 21:36 with a well-placed penalty corner into the lower right corner, with Ellie Cookson and Casey Allen picking up assists on the play.

Harvard Highlights:

• Freshman Hannah Pearce scored her third goal of the weekend and has six goals on 18 shots this season. She is third on the team with a .333 shooting percentage.
• Senior Ellie Cookson notched her team-best eighth assist of the season. With 32 career assists, Cookson extended her school record, besting the previous mark held by Jen Ahn '04, and Ceci Clark '92, who both had 26 career assists. 

Game Notes:

• Harvard has allowed just six goals in regulation in the last eight games.
• Harvard moved to 1-2 in overtime games this season, and 1-3 against ranked opponents despite being even on the scoresheet (8-8) in those four games combined.
