BOSTON, Mass.  –  An early deficit was too much to overcome for No. 9/12 Harvard men's ice hockey (6-2-0) which fell, 5-2, to Boston University (5-6-5) at Agganis Arena.

BU outshot Harvard 33-25 for the night, with senior goaltender Cameron Gornet making 28 saves for the Crimson.

The Terriers struck first after a defensive zone turnover led to a breakaway for Trevor Zegras, who finished into the top corner at 1:21.

Harvard evened the game quickly, with BU on the power play in the next minute of the frame. Senior captain Nathan Krusko began a 3-on-2 break for Harvard, feeding Walsh in the slot, who beat Tucker between the pads at 2:43 for the shorthanded goal to tie the game at 1-1.

But BU regained the lead as Ethan Phillips' shot from the left circle bounced off the shoulder of Robert Mastrosimone at 7:30.

The Terriers maintained control in the second period, holding the Crimson to six shots on goal, and adding another score late in the period on a delayed penalty on Harvard. With six skaters on the ice, Patrick Curry found the back of the net on a one-timer at 17:37 to make it 3-1.

After BU made it 4-1 early on in the third period, Harvard began to push back with several scoring chances.

On a power play, Drury made it a two-goal game after a great series of passes, starting from first-year Nick Abruzzese off the half wall to Walsh in the high slot. Walsh then fed across the slot to Drury, who found the back of the net at 15:25.

On the next shift, senior forward Colton Kerfoot hit the post with a chance to cut the lead to one. BU goaltender Sam Tucker (23 saves) made a sprawling stop on a John Farinacci one timer with 1:30 left in the contest, and BU added an empty net goal moments later to seal the win.

- Junior defenseman Reilly Walsh (goal, assist) has points in six straight games, while sophomore forward Jack Drury (goal) also has points in six straight contests.
- Harvard has scored a power play goal in six straight contests and is 7-for-26 (26.9%) on the man advantage in that span. Harvard was 1-for-4 on the man advantage and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill on the night.
- Tonight marked the first game of the year where Harvard did not score first, or did not have a lead at any time during the game.
