Cross Country Announces 2019 Campaign

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard cross country team has announced its schedule for the 2019 season. The team will compete in seven meets across five states in addition to postseason appearances.

The Crimson opens the season in the greater New York City metro with the Fordham Fiasco, held at Van Cortlandt Park. Following the trip to the nation's largest city, the squad returns south to New Haven, Conn. for the Harvard-Yale dual meet where the men's team will attempt to defend its victory over Yale from the 2018 season. The team's first local meet will take place on Sept. 20, competing in the Battle of Beantown at Franklin Park.

"I am really excited for the upcoming cross country season for both our men's and women's teams. Coach Gibby has done a phenomenal job instilling a strong culture focused on competing at our best when it matters most at the end of the season," said Jason Saretsky, the William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country.  "The 2019 schedule should provide a great opportunity for our student-athletes to gain experiences and confidence as they head into the championship part of our schedule"

Following a pair of weekends off in late Sept. and early Oct., the Crimson compete for the second consecutive time at Franklin Park in the New England Championships. The team splits for the first time on Oct. 18, travelling to both the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. and the Rothenburg Run in Providence, R.I. The Crimson returns to where the season began, Van Cortlandt Park, for the Ivy League Heps Championship on Nov. 1.

NCAA Regionals will be held in Buffalo, N.Y. on Nov. 15 and the National Championships will take place on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
