Men's Swimming and Diving Remains Perfect in Ivy Action with Win Over Brown

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's swimming and diving (5-2, 4-0 Ivy) returned to Blodgett and secured a convincing 203.5-96.5 win over Brown (2-4, 1-4 Ivy) in a mid-week meet on Wednesday afternoon.

The Crimson set the tone early in the 200-yard medley relay. Harvard's A squad of Gunner Grant, Daniel Chang, Michael Zarian, and Umit Gures secured first place, edging out Brown's quartet by.76 seconds.

First-year Gunner Grant was one of the Crimson's top performers with a three first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke as well as 200 IM. Grant swam away from the rest of the field in the 200 back, clocking in with a time of 1:45.01 – four seconds head of teammate Michael Zarian, who placed second with a time of 1:49.41.

Junior Alec DeCaprio highlighted Harvard divers, posting a scores of 316.88 in the 1-meter dive and a score of 328.80 on the 3-meter to secure first place in each event. Senior Austin Fields followed up DiCaprio finishing third on the 3-meter dive with a score of 307.88, while first-year Luke Foster tallied 300.68

Harvard Highlights
- Sophomore Umit Gures edged out Brown's Joon Sung by .26 seconds for first place in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 20.53. He also secured first place in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall with a time of 47.58.
- Sophomore Jake Johnson and junior Michael Zarian finished 1-2 in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking in a 1:48.15 and 1:49.57, respectively.
- Senior Daniel Chang beat out teammate Jared Simpson by .39 seconds to claim first-place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Harvard improves to 86-2 over Brown all-time.

Next Up
Harvard returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 18, traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. for an Ivy League dual meet against the Penn. Start time is slated for noon.
