CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior captains Matthew Ctvrtlik and Chase Howard, and sophomore Campbell Schoenfeld, earned All-EIVA honors for the 2020 season, the conference announced today, March 31.
This marks the second-straight year that Ctvrtlik was named First Team All-EIVA. The setter earned EIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier in the season and leads the team in assists with 535 and in assists per set with a 9.91 average through 15 matches. During the 2020 season, Ctvrtlik set a new career high with 52 assists at No. 13 George Mason on Feb. 14. The Newport Beach, Calif. native finished 14th in the nation and third in the EIVA with his assists total.
Schoenfeld earned his first Second Team All-EIVA honor this season after totaling 197 kills and 3.58 kills per set in 15 matches. Against No. 13 George Mason on Feb. 14, the outside hitter set two new career highs, totaling 23 kills and 54 attacks. The sophomore leads the team in kills, while also ranking third in the EIVA. Schoenfeld's 8.65 attacks per set average is the 12th best in the nation.
Earning All-EIVA honorable mention is Chase Howard, his first All-EIVA honor of his career. The libero finished the season with 121 digs and a 2.52 digs per set average, ranking him fourth and second in the EIVA, respectively. The Virginia Beach, Va. native earned EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier in the season and also ranks fifth in digs per set in the NCAA.
Additionally, seven members of the Crimson were named to the EIVA All-Academic Team. Seniors Jack Connolly, Matthew Ctvrtlik and Marty Heavey, junior Adam Gordon and sophomores Eric Li, Campbell Schoenfeld, Buddy Scott and Jason Shen all earned the honor by posting a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
