CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's fencing team will play host to the Beanpot to open its 2021-22 season this Wednesday, Nov. 17. All the action will take place at Malkin Athletic Center.
The Crimson will take on Boston College (4 p.m.), Brandeis (5:30 p.m.) and MIT (7 p.m.) in a round-robin style tournament.
Harvard comes into the season after not competing last year due to the pandemic. The Crimson was last in action at the 2020 NCAA Regionals where they had four athletes place in the top ten, before its season was cut short.
Harvard enters the year on the heels of a 13-8 record in 2019-20, finishing No. 9 in the final polls before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Crimson has won 13 consecutive Beanpot tournaments entering Wednesday.
Harvard has been successful in the series against Boston College, posting a perfect 23-0 record against the Eagles since the first match in 1993.
Since 1975, Harvard and Brandeis have competed 43 times with the Crimson prevailing in 37 of those contests, including 17-match win streak since 2003.
With 47 meetings since 1975, Harvard holds a 35-12 advantage over MIT, with 15 consecutive matches resulting in a Crimson victory dating back to 2001.
Outside of the Harvard bouts, MIT will face BC at 4 p.m. and Brandeis at 8 p.m. Boston College, meanwhile, will oppose MIT at 6 p.m. and Brandeis at 7 p.m.
All matches will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m.
