Crimson Shows Out At NCAA DI Cross Country Regional Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Announced by the USTFCCCA today, Nov. 23rd, the 2021 NCAA DI Cross Country Regional Awards saw Harvard well represented. 
 
First-Year Graham Blanks was recognized as the northeast region's Men's Athlete of the Year, taking home the Fred Tootell Award. Blanks earned the award through his fantastic performances for the Crimson, finishing 5th at Heps, 2nd at the Northeast Regional Championships and 23rd at the Cross Country National Championships. The Georgia native has already racked up a number of awards in his first season at Harvard, having been named to the Men's First Team All-Ivy League, the Men's All-Region Team as well as the Men's All-American Team. 
 
Associate Head Coach Alex Gibby was awarded both the Robert Grieve Award as well as the Ray Treacy Award, honors given to the Northeast Region's Men's Coach of the Year and Women's Coach of the Year respectively. With both teams having great years under his watch, Gibby coached the Crimson to a number of impressive finishes, including the women's win at Heps, the women's Northeast Regional Win and the men's 12th place finish at the Cross-Country Championships. This is the second time in as many seasons that Gibby has brought home both awards, claiming them back in 2019 as well.
