CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - No. 11 Harvard men's water polo first-year
Andrej Basica has earned NWPC Rookie of the Week, the Northeast Water Polo Conference announced today, Nov. 3.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Basica tallied six goals, two assists, and three steals in Harvard's 2-1 weekend in NWPC conference play. The first-year led the Crimson with three goals in its 12-9 defeat at the hands of No. 11 Princeton. Basica netted a pair of goals in the 20-5 win over No. 20 St. Francis Brooklyn before filling the stat sheet with a goal, two assists, two steals, and two ejections drawn in the 20-8 victory over Iona to close out the weekend. Basica has been an important part of the Crimson attack this season, tying for third on the team with 42 goals to this point. This is his third time receiving this award this season, previously winning on Sept. 7 and Oct. 5.
Harvard (22-4, 6-2 NWPC) will close out its regular season schedule with three games this upcoming weekend. The Crimson travels to MIT on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 9:00 a.m. before a home matchup later that day at 12:00 p.m. against Connecticut College. Harvard wraps up its NWPC conference schedule on Sunday, Nov. 7, traveling to Brown at 11:00 a.m.
