No. 11 Field Hockey Set To Honor Seniors on Saturday; Hosts Brown

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third time in the last five seasons, No. 11 Harvard field hockey (14-1, 6-0 Ivy) has clinched a share of the Ivy League title, and on Saturday (Nov. 6) against Brown (6-10, 2-4 Ivy), the Crimson will attempt to clinch the 2021 title outright.

Harvard will also honor seven seniors in a ceremony before the game, including graduated senior Natalie Sicher '21. The Crimson senior class includes: Hannah Pearce, Kolbe Keating, Rachel Greenwood, Mimi Tarrant, Lilly Whitman, Sage Nye, and Sicher.
 
Harvard has won nine straight games, matching its second-longest winning streak in school history.
 
On Saturday against Cornell, Hannah Pearce scored twice to lead Harvard to a 3-1 win, clinching an NCAA Tournament berth for the Crimson, its third in the last five seasons.
 
Harvard, which trailed in the early stages of the game, rallied as Pearce tied the game late in the first half, and the Crimson scored twice late in the fourth quarter to earn the win, including a goal from junior Olivia Hoover
 
For her efforts, Pearce was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.

What to Know 
  • Harvard field hockey head coach Tjerk van Herwaarden has a chance to earn his 100th win with the Crimson on Saturday against Brown. Tjerk has led the Crimson to Ivy League titles in 2016, 2018, and 2021, and enters the weekend with a 99-54 overall record.
  • Harvard leads the nation with a 0.44 goals-against average, having allowed just seven goals in regulation all season in 15 contests. Junior goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo (12-1) is second in the country with a .846 save percentage.
  • Senior captain Hannah Pearce leads the team with 26 points (12 goals, two assists) and is fourth in the Ivy League with an average of 1.73 points per game. Pearce has points in seven straight games (seven goals, two assists).
  • Harvard leads the Ivy League in scoring margin (1.90) and is second in the Ivy League in penalty corners per game (6.67).
  • Harvard continues to keep pace with the 2018 team, matching that squad for the best start in school history at 14-1 through 15 games.
  • Harvard and Brown will meet for the 46th time with the Crimson owning a 26-13-6 margin, including wins in the last five meetings.
