CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in school history, Harvard field hockey placed three players on NFHCA All-American teams in the same season, as senior captain Hannah Pearce (First Team), junior goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo (Second Team), and first-year midfielder Emily Guckian (Third Team) all were honored, the organization announced today (Dec. 14).
 
Four times previously (2003, 2004, 2016, 2018) Harvard has had multiple All-American selections, but this marks the first with three on the list.
 
Pearce had one of the most decorated seasons in program history, as she was previously honored as NFHCA Northeast Region Player of the Year, an NFHCA Northeast First Team All-Region selection, and an NFHCA Senior Team selection. In the Ivy League, Pearce was named Defensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy honoree. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Pearce had her best season in 2021, leading the team with 30 points (14 goals, two assists), and serving as the team's most valuable defensive player.
 
A native of Surrey, England, Shahbo had an incredible season in net for Harvard in 2021, leading the nation in virtually every statistical goalkeeping category. A First Team All-Ivy Honoree, Shahbo had the nation's top goals-against average (0.44) and save percentage (.860) and added 10 shutouts. She finished the year with a record of 15-2.
 
Guckian was one of Harvard's top two-way players, recording a goal and six assists and helping Harvard's defense become one of the top units in the nation. A native of Waybridge, England, Guckian was a NFHCA First Team All-Northeast Region selection and Second Team All-Ivy honoree.
