CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's fencing team will head to The Constitution State for the Sacred Heart Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 5.
The Crimson (3-0), back in action for the first time since claiming its 14
th consecutive Beanpot, will have five matches on Sunday with start times ranging from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
At 10 a.m., Harvard will match up with Vassar College, a team that Harvard owns a 17-0 advantage over in the all-time series.
Next up, the Crimson go to battle with Penn State in a match set for 11 a.m., Harvard trails the all-time series, 16-12, against the Nittany Lions with its last win coming in 2018.
In the noontime match, the Crimson will take on the hosts, Sacred Heart. The series between the two goes back to 2001, with Harvard winning all 15 matchups.
Harvard will finish the day with matches against Temple and New York University at 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., respectively. The Crimson holds a 9-6 advantage overall against the Owls dating back to 1980 and has won eight of the last 10 matches. Harvard, meanwhile, owns a commanding 24-0 edge over NYU since 1993.

Daria Schneider is in her third year as head coach of the Harvard men's and women's fencing programs in 2021-22. In her first season as head coach, Schneider led the men's team to a program-record 20 dual wins and an outright Ivy League Championship. She led the women's team to the NCAA regionals where four fencers placed in the top 10.

Next weekend, Dec. 9-12, the Crimson will send 15 athletes to the North American Cup in Columbus, Ohio, to compete against some of the country's top fencers in an individual competition. The Crimson will travel as a team again on Jan. 22, to Jamaica, N.Y., where they will compete in a meet hosted by St. John's University.
