Men's Heavyweight Rowing

Hardy ’18, Hicks ’13 Earn Spots on Australian Olympic Rowing Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Harvard heavyweight rowers Sam Hardy '18 and Josh Hicks '13 have earned spots on the Australian Olympic Team. The duo is set to compete in the men's pair at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Hardy and Hicks will be making their first appearance at the Olympics and run the Crimson's number of Olympic qualifiers to seven. Fellow Harvard rowers Liam Corrigan '19, Clark Dean '22, Conor Harrity '18, Andrew Reed '14 and Alexander Richards were named in early June to the United States team.

The Crimson will now have representation in the men's pair (Hardy, Hicks), men's four (Dean, Reed) and men's eight (Corrigan, Harrity, Richards).

While at Harvard, Hardy (2016-18) and Hicks (2011-13) each earned three varsity letters and will be the second and third Harvard graduates to row in the Olympics for Australia, joining Brodie Buckland '09, who competed in the men's pair in 2012.

The Olympics will be held July 23-Aug. 9, with rowing events scheduled to start on the morning of July 23.
