Women’s Fencing to Welcome NYU to the MAC on Friday Night

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard women's fencing team (10-2) will play host to New York University on Friday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m., at the Malkin Athletic Center. 

The Crimson will be competing in their final dual competition before the start of the Ivy League Championships on Feb. 12.      

Harvard and NYU will match up for the second time this season. In the first meeting at the Sacred Heart Invitational last month, the Crimson won, 17-10. Elizabeth Tartakovksy won all three of her bouts, posting a +9-touch differential to push the Crimson to victory.

What to Know

  • The Crimson have not lost a contest with the Violets in 25 meetings dating back to the first meeting in 1993.
  • In the 25 all-time matchups, the Crimson has not allowed more than 11 points in a single match. 
  • This is Harvard's first home match since the Beanpot in November.

At the Helm

Daria Schneider is in her third year as head coach of the Harvard men's and women's fencing programs in 2021-22. In her first season as head coach, Schneider led the men's team to a program-record 20 dual wins and an outright Ivy League Championship. She led the women's team to the NCAA regionals where four fencers placed in the top 10.
