MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – In their first action of the year, Harvard men's and women's fencing posted a strong outing in the North American Cup held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from Oct. 7 – Oct. 10.
For the men, competing in a field of 202 athletes, assistant coach
Eli Dershwitz won gold in Division I Men's Sabre. Three other Crimson fencers also competed in the event. Senior
Mitchell Saron came in 16
th, senior
Filip Dolegiewicz came in 47
th and first-year
Matthew Linsky came in 79
th. For Linsky, it was his first tournament of his collegiate career.
In Division I Men's Epee, junior captain Jonas Hanson also had a fantastic outing, finishing in 30
th in a field of 292 competitors.
On the women's side, first-year
Faith Park and sophomore
Lauren Scruggs led the way for the Crimson. In her first ever collegiate action, Park came in 10
th out of 170 in Division I Women's Epee. Scruggs finished ninth in a field of 160 in the Division I Women's Foil competition. Junior
Annora Lee also competed in the foil event, placing 81
st.
Senior captain
Elizabeth Tartakovsky also impressed in the Division I Women's Sabre competition, coming in 20
th out of 146. First-year
Zoe Kim also competed in the competition, coming in 66
th in her first collegiate competition.
