Women's Basketball Travels to Merrimack for First Away Contest

Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard women's basketball team will travel to Merrimack on Monday, Nov. 21 for their first away contest of the 2022-23 season. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.

What to Know

• Harvard women's basketball opened the Carrie Moore era last week when it defeated URI, 88-74, and Boston College, 68-59, at home. The Crimson fell to UMass on Friday, 67-77, in the final of three home games to open the 2022-23 season.

• Moore is in Year 1 after the retirement of Kathy Delaney-Smith, who was at the helm of the Crimson program for 40 years. Moore was named The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball on April 6, 2022, and arrived in Cambridge after spending the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to a 25-7 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Moore also had assistant-coaching stints at North Carolina, Princeton and Creighton.

• Harmoni Turner, who was named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week last week, has started the season with multiple career records, scoring a career-high 31 points vs. URI and dishing out a career-high nine assists vs. Boston College. After three games, she leads the team in points (63), assists (18) and rebounds (18).

• In game three against UMass, McKenzie Forbes scored a team-leading 24 points, her second game of the season to score 20+ after a 20-point game against URI. Forbes shot 8-18 in field goals and passed off four assists to share team-high honors in the metric with Turner.

• Junior Lola Mullaney put up double-digit points for the second time this year in Friday night's contest, scoring 15. She scored five three-point field goals, sinking more from beyond the arc than anyone else on the Crimson team or the opposition.

• First-year Saniyah Glenn-Bello has offered a standout performance so far this year, shooting .667 in three-point attempts, a team high in the metric. Elena Rodriguez leads in field goal percentage, shooting .857 in making 6 of 7 shots.

• In their fall to UMass, the Crimson team reported a season high rebounds (36) and assists (15). They also tied their 11 three-point field goals made in the season opener against Rhode Island.

• Harvard is meeting Merrimack for the 2nd time in series history, after the Crimson won the first-ever matchup on Nov. 30, 2021, 99-75.

• Last year's 99-point victory over Merrimack was the most the Crimson scored in one game throughout the entire 2021-22 season. It is also the most Harvard has scored since Feb. 2, 2019, when the team put up 100 points against Brown.

• The game vs. Merrimack marks the Crimson's first away contest of the 2022-23 season, following an opening stretch of three home games. After tonight's game, Harvard will head to Cancun, Mexico for the Cancun Challenge Tournament.

• Harvard's 2022-23 schedule features 12 non-conference games before Ivy League play begins Dec. 31 against Princeton. The team will hope to advance to the Ivy League tournament for the second consecutive season. The tournament will be held in Princeton, N.J. from March 11-12, 2023.
