Women’s Basketball to Host Penn on Saturday for KDS Day

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Boasting a five-game win streak after picking up back-to-back victories last weekend, the Harvard women's basketball team will host Penn this Saturday, Feb. 12. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on both ESPN+ and NESN.
 
Harvard will also celebrate KDS Day on Saturday. Throughout the game, various elements will be featured on the videoboard celebrating Delaney-Smith's tenure at Harvard as she prepares to retire at the end of the 2021-22 season. Fans are encouraged to stay post-game for a ceremony to celebrate Delaney-Smith's retirement and her contribution to the Harvard community. As part of the celebration, the first 500 fans in attendance will receive free t-shirts (youth sizes included) that feature Delaney-Smith's coined slogan "Act As If".

What to Know
- Harvard is sporting a five-game win streak after picking up two dominant wins at home last weekend over Brown and Yale. The Crimson took down the Bears, 77-73, on Friday, before topping Yale, 65-59, on Saturday. Harvard improved to 6-3 in conference play and 12-9 overall to move to a tie for third in the Ivy League standings.
- McKenzie Forbes and Harmoni Turner swept this week's Ivy League weekly awards. Forbes earned her first Player of the Week nod after netting a team-high 19 points against Brown and 15 over Yale. Forbes nearly added a double-double to her tally against Yale, grabbing a team-best eight rebounds to lead the defensive end as well. Turner's accolade marks her fourth of the season, as she notched her third double-double against Brown, tallying 16 points and 11 rebounds. Turner returned Saturday night with an impressive performance against Yale as well, netting a career-high tying 25 points and seven rebounds. 
- Harvard will look to take a season series sweep over Penn this weekend, previously besting the Quakers, 70-63, on the road at the end of January. The Crimson leads the all-time series, 53-35.
- The Crimson currently boasts a 7-1 home record within the friendly confines of Lavietes Pavilion. Dominating on its own hardwood, Harvard has surpassed 70 points in six out of seven of its home court victories this season.
- Harvard has been hot from the floor this season, putting up 70 or more points in 13 games. Posting six games with 80+ points, the Crimson ranks first in the Ivy League in scoring with 72.0 points per game and second in field goals with a .404 percentage.
- Harvard ranks 12th in the nation in three-point field goals made per game with 9.2 and places 14th with 194 total. The Crimson ranks first in the Ivy League in three-point percentage with .337. Tallying double-digit triples in 10 games, Harvard registered a season-high 17 against Merrimack in November.
- Five Crimson players rank in the top-25 in scoring in the Ivy League. Harmoni Turner leads the way in third with 15.5 points per game, followed by McKenzie Forbes (13.3 p/g, 9th) Lola Mullaney (13.1 p/g, 10th), Maggie McCarthy (8.3 p/g, 18th) and Tess Sussman (8.2 p/g, 20th).

Leading the Way
The Friends of Harvard Women's Basketball Head Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith returns for her 40th season at the helm of the program. The winningest coach in Ivy League basketball history with 629 career victories, Delaney-Smith passed former Princeton head coach Pete Carril (514) for most wins by an Ancient Eight coach on either the men's or women's side during the 2013-14 season. Delaney-Smith owns a 629-440 overall record with a 366-162 mark in Ivy League play, including 12 20-win seasons, 11 Ivy titles and 15 postseason appearances.

Harvard will hit the road for Columbia and Cornell next weekend, Feb. 18-19. The Crimson will take on the Lions on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m., before heading to Cornell for a matchup against the Big Red on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+.
