POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Harvard women's fencing program had six fencers qualify for the NCAA Championships today in the NCAA Northeast Regionals at Vassar College.
With only two athletes per weapon able to attend the championships, the Crimson will send five fencers to the NCAA Championships from March 24-27 in Notre Dame, Ind.
Aside from
Elizabeth Tartakovsky, Harvard will have four fencers making their first appearance at the NCAA Championships. Making the trip to Notre Dame will be
Lauren Scruggs,
Annora Lee,
Greta Candreva and
Emily Vermeule.
The Crimson had all six qualifiers finish in the top 10, including a first-place finish in each weapon from Tartakovsky (Sabre),

Women's Foil
Lauren Scruggs – Gold Medal, 1st
- NCAA Northeast Regional Women's Foil Champion
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 4 in the Northeast prior to the regionals.
- Finished the day 21-2 with a +54-touch differential to secure the first-place finish and earn the qualification
Annora Lee
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 5 in the Northeast after the regular season.
- Finished 5th at NCAA Northeast Regionals
- Posted a 13-10 record with a +22-touch differential to earn the qualification.
Ever Marinelli
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 6 in the Northeast leading up to the regionals.
- Finished 6th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
- Posted a 12-11 record with a +11-touch differential to qualify.
Women's Epee
Emily Vermeule – Gold Medal, 1st
- NCAA Northeast Regional Women's Epee Champion
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 6 in the Northeast following the regular season.
- Finished the day 18-5 with a +47-touch differential to secure the gold medal and the qualification.
Greta Candreva
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 7 in the Northeast prior to the regionals.
- Finished 4th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
- Posted a 17-6 record to go along with a +41-touch differential to earn the qualification.
Claire Beddingfield
- Regional Qualifier
- Ranked No. 11 in the Northeast following the regular season.
- Finished 23rd at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
Women's Sabre
Elizabeth Tartakovsky – Gold Medal, 1st
- NCAA Northeast Regional Women's Sabre Champion
- Regional Qualifier
- NCAA Qualifier
- Ranked No. 4 in the Northeast entering the regionals.
- Used a 20-3 record and a +46-touch differential to earn the gold medal and the NCAA qualification.
Maria Theodore
- Regional Qualifier
- Ranked No. 13 in the Northeast following the regular season.
- Finished 12th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
Veronica Czyzewski
- Regional Qualifier
- Ranked No. 10 in the Northeast following the regular season.
- Finished T-13th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
