Women's Fencing With Seven Northeast All-Region Selections

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's fencing team had seven athletes selected to the Northeast All-Region team, the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) announced today.
 
The Crimson had five fencers tabbed to the first team, one on the second team and one earning honorable mention.
 
The epee squad had Emily Vermeule and Greta Candreva earn first-team accolades. Vermeule holds a 65-25 record across all competitions and posted an 18-5 record at the Northeast Regionals on her way to a gold medal. Candreva sits at 65-30 overall and went 17-6 with a +41-touch differential at the regional event. 
 
The foil team had two fencers on the first team in Annora Lee and Lauren Scruggs, with Ever Marinelli earning second-team honors. Scruggs has fenced to a 57-14 record this season, including a 21-2 (+54) showing at regionals to earn the gold medal. Lee has posted a 31-20 record and went 13-10 with a +22-touch differential at the regional championship. Marinelli, meanwhile, has a 41-33 record on the year and posted a 12-11 (+11) day at regionals. 
 
The women's sabre unit had Elizabeth Tartakovsky named to the first team, with Maria Theodore earning honorable mention recognition. Tartakovsky holds a team-best 74-20 record after a 20-3 (+46) performance at the Northeast Regionals, which resulted in a gold medal. Theodore held a 28-26 record throughout the season.
