CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard field hockey head coach
Tjerk van Herwaarden announced the addition of
Kaelyn Long as an assistant coach today (March 8).
A native of Hanover, Pa., Long joins Harvard while seeking the completion of her online graduate degree in Reading Education at Ohio University.
Long was a First Team All-MAC defender with Ohio in 2021, recording four goals and eight assists.
She earned her undergraduate degree in early childhood education at Bucknell, where she was a four-year starter on the Bison field hockey team. While at Bucknell, Long was an NFHCA Third Team All-American, a two-time All-Patriot League Team selection and a two-time Academic All-Patriot League selection.
Long helped lead Bucknell to its first ever Patriot League title in 2021, scoring the game-winning goal against Boston University in the league title game last spring.
She joins a Crimson team coming off a record setting 2021 season, as Harvard finished the year 17-2 (7-0 Ivy League). The Crimson enjoyed its most successful season to date, winning its sixth Ivy League title, reaching the NCAA Semifinals for the first time in program history and matching a program record with 17 wins on the year.
