No. 72 Women’s Tennis Hits the Road for Two Ivy League Matchups

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 72 Harvard women's tennis team (12-7, 3-0 Ivy League) will hit the road for two matches with No. 50 Princeton and Penn this weekend on April 16-17. Both contests will start at noon and be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
The Crimson is coming off a 2-0 weekend with wins over Ivy League foes, Columbia (4-1) and Cornell (4-2), to extend its win streak to six matches. 
 
The Tigers (7-10, 2-1 Ivy League) enter the weekend having split two matches last weekend, losing to Yale and defeating Brown. The Quakers (12-8, 2-1 Ivy League), meanwhile, swept the weekend against the same competition. 
 
Against Princeton, the Crimson holds a 25-22 all-time advantage since the first meeting in 1974. The two schools met in the ECAC championship match back on Feb. 13, where the Tigers earned a 4-0 victory. 
 
Harvard leads the series against Penn, 32-14, dating back to 1978. The Crimson earned a 4-2 win over the Quakers in the ECAC semifinal match on Feb. 12.
 
The Crimson sits alone in first place in the Ivy League with both Princeton and Penn just behind them in a four-way tie for second.
 
What to Know
  • This marks Harvard's first trip to New Jersey and Pennsylvania this spring.
  • The Crimson has not extended a win streak to seven matches since 2017-18.
  • Harvard is back in the ITA top-75 for the second time this spring.

Traci Green, The Sheila Kelly Palandjan Head Coach for Harvard Women's Tennis and the Ragatz Family Harvard Women's Coach of Excellence, is in her 15th season at the helm of the program. She has a career coaching record of 192-147, including a 159-119 mark at Harvard.
