AUBURN, Ala. – Harvard track and field had success at two meets at Auburn and UMass on Saturday (April 16).
At the War Eagle Invitational, Harvard won the 4x100m relay on the women's side, as
Tina Martin,
Eden Finkelstein,
Izzy Goudros and
Chrystal Aluya teamed to finish in 45.42, sixth all-time in program history.
Senior
Jada Jones put in a strong showing in the 100m hurdles, placing second in 13.63. Goudros placed fifth in the same event, nearing her PR with a time of 13.87.
First-year
Victoria Bossong won the 400m with her personal best in the event (53.01), second all-time in program history behind two-time Olympian Meredith Rainey '90. On the men's side sophomore
Gregory Lapit placed third in the 400m, finishing in 47.12.
Junior
Tina Martin ran her personal best mark in the 100m, placing third in 11.53.
Senior Demarkes Stradford ran his personal best in the 100m, tying the second fastest time in school history and placing fifth overall in 10.44.
Sophomore
Peter Diebold ran his personal best in the 800m, placing 15
th in 1:52.27.
Senior
Sam Welsh had his best effort of the spring season in the discus throw, winning the event with his third throw of the day (58.04m, 190'5").
Senior
Sharelle Samuel won the 400m hurdles, winning the event in 58.23, fifth fastest in program history. Samuel became the seventh woman in program history to break the one-minute mark in the 400m hurdles.
In the 200m dash,
Lance Ward placed second with his personal best in the event (21.10). On the women's side,
Tina Martin ran her outdoor personal best in the 200m, placing fourth in 23.69, second all time behind 2020 Toyko Olympian Gabby Thomas '19.
UMass Outdoor Invitational
At the UMass Outdoor Invitational, junior
Kyle Murphy won the triple jump with a 14.38m (47'2") effort.
Sophomore
Jack McDonough won the 1500m run in 4:01.74.
Charles Lego also won the 400m in his spring debut, nearing his PR in the event in 49.77.
Junior
Caleb Moore ran his personal best in the 3000m steeplechase, placing sixth in the event in 9:42.44.
War Eagle Invitational Day 1 (April 15)
A nearly 42-year old school record in the men's hammer throw fell on the first day of the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn University, as first-year
Kenneth Ikeji reached 65.67m (215'5") to place fourth overall in the event.
Ikeji broke Thomas Lenz's ('80) previous record of 65.02m (213'3.25") set in May 1980.
On the women's side, both junior
Cammy Garabian (54.74m, 179'7" – 8
th overall) and junior
Hannah McLaughlin (44.60m, 146'4") both set personal bests in the hammer throw.
In the men's long jump, sophomore
Jaeschel Acheampong placed eighth overall (7.25m, 23'8.6").
In addition, junior
John Minicus competed in the men's javelin, finishing eighth among collegiate competitors (54.86m, 180')
