Day 1 Recap - Virginia Challenge, Michael Johnson Invitational
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Competing at three meets across the country, including one locally at MIT, Harvard track and field completed another weekend full of record book performances.
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE (UVA)
In the second day of action in Charlottesville, junior
Sarah Omoregie had a standout performance in the shot put, placing fourth overall, and recording her collegiate best with a 16.10m (52'10") effort, which is the second-best mark in school history behind Olympian Nikki Okwelogu '17.
On the men's side junior
Alexander Kolesnikoff placed second in the shot put with his second-best effort this spring (19.15m, 63'8¼").
First-year
Marianne Mihas ran her personal best in the 800m, placing 13
th in 2:10.34. On the men's side, junior
Will Crisp ran the fastest 800m time by a Harvard student-athlete this spring, recording his collegiate best with a time of 1:51.50 (25
th overall).
MICHAEL JOHNSON INVITATIONAL (BAYLOR)
In the second day of competition at Waco for the Crimson, first-year
Daniel Falode placed third overall and second among collegiate competitors in the triple jump, nearing his personal best with a 15.53m (50'11.5") effort on his fourth jump of the day.
The Harvard women's 4x100m relay team of
Tina Martin,
Egbe Ndip-Agbor,
Victoria Bossong, and
Eden Finkelstein placed fourth among collegiate teams in 45.51, seventh fastest in program history.
Senior
Jada Jones ran her personal best in the 100m hurdles, placing 11
th overall in 13.43, second all-time in program history behind Karina Joiner '20 (13.38).
In the 100m dash, senior
Demarkes Stradford ran the second fastest time in program history in 10.37, placing eighth among all collegiate runners.
Lance Ward also ran his personal best in the 100m, placing 13th overall in 10.38, third on Harvard's all-time list in the event.
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Lance Ward,
Gregory Lapit,
Oliver Murcko and
Peter Diebold finished fourth in 3:09.81, the second fastest time in program history.
SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL (MIT)
Locally at MIT, Harvard competed at the Sean Collier Invitational, as junior
Chet Ellis won the high jump clearing 1.96m (6'5"), his third meet win in the event this spring season.
Sophomore
Jada Johnson set a personal best in the 100m hurdles, winning the event in 14.30.
Making her season debut in the outdoor long jump, senior
DaLoria Boone won the event with a 5.40m (17'8.75") effort.
Sophomore
Meaghan Toscano picked up her first career event win in the discus throw with her first effort of the day (42.54m, 139'7"). Toscano also placed second in the shot put.
Junior
Hannah McLaughlin won the javelin throw (36.85m, 120'11") for the second time this season.
Junior
Cammy Garabian placed second in the hammer throw with her personal best in the event (54.91m, 180'2"), fifth best in program history.
