NEW HAVEN, CT – In a display of incredible team depth, both the Harvard men's and women's track and field programs finished in second place at the 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships hosted by Yale at Dewitt Cuyler Athletic Complex.
Over the course of two days, Harvard earned 10 individual Heps titles with an even split – five individual men's champions and five individual women's champions.
Senior discus thrower
Sam Welsh was named Most Outstanding Men's Field Performer of the Meet, as Welsh set a new school and Ivy Outdoor Heps meet record - 63.26m (207-6) – in the discus throw, one of the top marks in the nation in that event.
The Harvard men's team recorded its highest finish at the Ivy outdoor championships since 1983, when it last won Outdoor Heps, earning 136 points. That point total is also the highest point total achieved by the Crimson men since the 1983 team title. On the women's side, the Crimson earned a matching 136 points, just one point behind champion Penn.
Picking up Harvard's first individual title of the day was first-year
Daniel Falode who recorded a wind-aided season best mark in the triple jump (15.83m, 51-11¾) to clinch the victory, as Harvard went 1-4-6 in the event with junior
Sebastian Pereira and junior
Kyle Murphy also earning points.
A phenomenal finishing kick by sophomore
Maia Ramsden helped her take the 1500 meter Heps title in 4:23.04, with the Crimson placing first, third (senior
Anna Juul) and fourth (first-year
Marianne Mihas) in the event.
In the 100-meter hurdles, senior
Jada Jones recorded a wind-aided personal best time of 13.33 for her first career Outdoor Heps title.
In the 100-meter dash, first-year
Eden Finkelstein won in 11.67, Harvard's sixth straight women's 100-meter Outdoor Heps title dating back to 2015.
Sophomore
Acer Iverson capped off an outstanding weekend of distance running with a first place finish in the 5000 meters (13.56.53) to pair with his 10,000 meter Heps title earned yesterday.
On the men's side, sophomore
Lance Ward placed third and broke a 20-year school record (10.36) previously held by Olympian Christopher Lambert '03, running 10.32.
In other standout performances, First-year
Isabelle Goldstein placed second in the 3000m steeplechase, and first-year
Victoria Bossong took second place in the women's 400 meters. First-year
Sarah Omoregie placed second in the shot put as well.
Junior
John Minicus set a personal best mark in the decathlon, placing third with 6552 points, including event wins in the discus and javelin throw.
Harvard's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams all earned second place finishes. In the women's 4x100m,
Victoria Bossong,
Egbe Ndip-Agbor,
Jada Jones, and
Eden Finkelstein recorded a season best time in the event for Harvard (45.30). On the men's side
DeMarkes Stradford,
Lance Ward,
Oliver Murcko,
Marcus Miller helped the Crimson earn a second-place finish in 40.70.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team also recorded a season best time for the Crimson in the event as

Peter Diebold took second in 3:09.61. The women's team of
Egbe Ndip-Agbor,
Jada Jones,
Jada Johnson,
Victoria Bossong took second in 3:47.26.
