Eli Dershwitz '19 recently finished competition with Team USA at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
Tartakovsky, the 2022 NCAA champion in women's saber, placed 73
rd in a field that consisted of 133 competitors. In the women's saber team competition, Tartakovsky joined forces with Honor Johnson, Tatiana Nazlymov and Anne-Elizabeth Stone. The No. 5-seed defeated Iran (45-35) and Canada (45-24) before falling to fourth-seeded Japan in the quarterfinals, 45-33.
Dershwitz, meanwhile, finished in 19
th place in men's saber and was part of an American foursome that came in 10
th in the team event. The two-time Olympian was joined by Daryl Homer, Andrew Mackiewicz and Kamar Skeete. As a group, the 5-seed took down Singapore (45-20) but could not overcome China (45-38) in the Round of 16.
The duo last season helped the Crimson to a second-place performance at the 2022 NCAA Championships. Harvard's runner-up performance was its second-best finish in program history and along the way, the Crimson had 11 athletes earn All-America honors.
