Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard men's and women's cross country teams sent athletes to compete in the Coast to Coast in Beantown Invitational on Friday, Sept. 23 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The women's team placed eighth of 19 teams and the men's team placed 12th of 15 teams.
The Harvard women's team was led by first-year Penelope Salmon, who finished 11th in the women's 5k with a time of 17:35. She was followed by sophomore Kristin Otervik in 15th place. Rounding out the five scoring positions for Harvard were Elouise Freitag, Molly Malague and Shaked Leibovitz. The team scored 224 points, just five points behind Boston College in seventh with 219. Virginia, Northeastern and Dartmouth were the top three teams on the women's side.
The men's team was led by first-year Shane Brosnan who finished the men's 8k in 25:10, earning 44th place in the meet. He was followed by sophomore Noah Ward who finished in 59th place in 25:33. The three men rounding out the top five for Harvard were Caleb Moore, Andrew Avila and Ben Shryock. The team scored 307 points to take 12th place. The men's race was also topped by Virginia, Dartmouth and Northeastern.
