Women’s Swim and Dive Victorious at Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Harvard women's swim and dive remained undefeated in dual competition with a 187-113 team victory at Penn on Saturday. The Crimson move to 6-0 with the result in Philadelphia after an impressive day at the pool that included top finishes in 14 of the 16 event on the day.
 

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS 

Diving

  • Harvard took the top three spots in the one-meter diving event as Nina Janmyr, Amy Wotovich and Katie Laverty came out with 313.73, 301.95 and 289.58 scores, respectively.
  • Elizabeth Miclau finished in the top spot in the three-meter diving event with a season-best 318.60 finishing score.

Swimming

  • Kaia Li had three first-place finishes on the afternoon in 200 medley, 100 breast stroke and 200 breast stroke events.
  • Li teamed up with Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Darlene Fung to finish first overall with a time of 1:43.9 in the 200 medley.
  • Samantha Shelton was under a second off a career best in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.62 which was good for the first-place finish.
  • Anya Mostek had another top finish for the Crimson in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 54.20.
  • Mostek added another win in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.65, .56 seconds off her personal best this season (50.10)
  • Sydney Lu had the second-best Crimson time this season in the 200 butterfly at 2:02.18 which was good for a first-place finish.
  • Mandy Brenner and Darlene Fung finished first and second, respectively in the 50 freestyle event, adding 13 points onto the team score.
  • Maggie Buckley and Kate Hazlett ran away with a first and second place finish, respectively, in the 200 backstroke event.
  • Mostek, Fung, Lu and Molly Hamlin registered a three-second victory with a time of 3:26.51 in the 400 freestyle relay. The time was the second-best this year in the event for Harvard.

Up Next

The women's swim and dive squad is back in action for its final tune-up before the Ivy League Championships when it takes one Yale and Princeton next weeked. Start times are set for 6:00 PM on Saturday night (Jan. 28) and 12:00 PM on Sunday (Jan. 29). The match will also serve as the women's swim and dive senior meet.
