CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 18 Harvard men's water polo opened up the Harvard Invitational with two wins on Saturday. The Crimson defeated the University of California, Merced 15-3 in the morning and secured a 17-10 victory against Pomona Pitzer in the afternoon. Harvard will play two more games tomorrow.
The Crimson had no trouble scoring in its morning contest, putting up a season high 25 goals vs. the Bobcats. In the team's second game of the day, Harvard went on a four-goal streak and eventually pulled away from the Sagehens.
Harvard 25, UC Merced 8
- 13 different crimson athletes scored vs. the Bobcats.
- James Rozolis-Hill scored a team high four goals, along with four assists.
- First-year Jacob Tsotadze had three goals of his own.
- First-year Jack Burghardt added two goals and two assists.
- Mason Hunt added two goals and three steals in the contest.
Harvard 17, Pomona Pitzer 10
- Mot Stothart lit up the goal tally, scoring five against the Sagehens. He scored back-to-back goals twice in the contest.
- Rozolis-Hill had a great defensive game, making seven steals for the Crimson. He also proved to be a menace on the offensive end, scoring three goals and adding one assist.
- Tsotadze also added three goals and one assist.
- Goalie Tanner Furtak was strong in net for the Crimson with 11 saves.
Next Up
Harvard will be back in the pool for two more games tomorrow, Oct. 14, as part of the Harvard Invitational. The Crimson will take on George Washington University at 8:30 a.m. and Wagner College at 12:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
