SANTA CLARA, CA. - No. 13 Harvard men's water polo defeated Santa Clara in game one of its trip to California this afternoon. The Crimson was able to ride a 4-goal second-quarter run to lift them to victory over the Broncos. Eventually, Harvard went on an 8-1 run to close out the win. Harvard returns to action tomorrow at San Jose State before returning to Santa Clara to play California Baptist in the afternoon.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Oliver Price helped jumpstart the big runs for the Crimson offense after stopping a five-meter penalty shot in a key moment in the third quarter. With the Broncos looking to cut the deficit to one - Price came up with a big stop to propel the Crimson to two quick goals to help start its second-half dominance. Price finished the game with eight saves.
- Owen Hale and Alex Bucur both scored a pair of goals.
- Jack Burghardt was fantastic all game as the rookie added three goals and two assists to his season totals.
- Jake Tsotadze, Mot Stothart, and James Rozolis-Hill all scored one goal each.
- Gabe Putnam started the game by scoring the first two goals for either team,
- Rozolis-Hill also recorded three steals.
