MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving finished day-two action at the Minnesota Invitational on Thursday at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The Crimson logged several season-bests, while its divers in third and fourth place on the one-meter board.
What to Know
- Alexandra Bastone secured a spot in the A-final of the 500 freestyle after she placed sixth in the preliminary rounds with a time of 4:48.69, which was nearly eight seconds faster than her previous season-best (4:56.29). The first-year then took more time off her prelim effort in the finals, finishing the race in 4:45.80 to finish in sixth. Bastone's finals time was an NCAA B-standard.
- Piper Wood Prince also competed in the A-final of the 500 free, coming in seventh place with a time of 4:47.87, surpassing her previous season best of 4:51.40, which was accomplished in the preliminary rounds.
- Sydney Lu qualified for the 500 free B-final after a season-best effort of 4:57.41 in the prelims. The sophomore then posted a 4:54.88 to finish 13th overall and fifth in the B-final. Molly Hamlin, meanwhile, earned a spot in the C-final with her best time of 2023-24, clocking in at 4:59.07. The junior carried that momentum in the finals, finishing in first place (17th overall) with a new season-best mark of 4:57.09.
- Grace Yoon (5:10.51) and Robin Cruz-Abrams (5:12.46) also competed in the 500 free C-final, finishing in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Both times were their best of the campaign.
- In the prelims of the 200 individual medley, Stephanie Iannaccone recorded Harvard's top performance, finishing in seventh place with a season-best time of 2:01.57. Her effort locked in her spot for the A-final, which produced a new personal-best (2:00.38) as she came in sixth.
- Aleksandra Denisenko shaved nearly seven seconds off her fastest time of the season, finishing in 10th in the prelims (2:02.80). Then in the A-final, the junior completed the event in 2:02.70, to come in eighth place.
- Anya Mostek was the lone Crimson swimmer to earn a spot in the finals of the 50 free. The sophomore turned in a season-best time of 22.83 to guarantee her a lane in the B-final. In the night session, Mostek took fourth in the B-championship with a new season-best effort of 22.70.
- Harvard ended its night with an eighth-place showing in the 200 free relay. The Crimson A-team of Mostek, Lu, Isabella Alas and Hamlin notched Harvard's top time of the season (1:31.28). The Crimson's B-entry came in 10th place (1:33.11 – Kristín Helga Hákonardóttir, Addie Rose Bullock, Blythe Wieclawek, Kate Hazlett).
- In the one-meter diving competition, Amy Wotovich finished in third place with a six-dive score of 272.60 (season-best). Remi Edvalson, meanwhile, came in fourth (265.30). Both performances were NCAA standards.
