MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving put the finishing touches on its time in the Land of 10,000 Lakes on Saturday at the Minnesota Invitational.
What to Know
- Harvard's day began with the 200 backstroke preliminaries and saw Kate Hazlett and Molly Hamlin qualify for the A-final. Hazlett, a senior, posted the field's fifth-fastest time (1:57.68), with Hamlin ranking eighth (1:58.07). Anya Mostek, who set the program record in the 100 back on Friday, just missed earning a spot in the A-final, finishing in ninth place (1:58.33).
- First-year Stephanie Iannaccone, like Mostek in the 200 back, narrowly missed a spot in the 200 breast A-final, coming in ninth with a time of 2:15.21. Aleksandra Denisenko joined Iannaccone in the B-final with her 15th-place time of 2:18.11.
- The final prelim of the day watched Sydney Lu secure a spot in the A-final of the 200 fly. The sophomore was the eighth-fastest swimmer in the field, clocking in at 1:59.77.
- Alexandra Bastone kicked off the night session by finishing in second place in the 1,650 free. The first-year completed the event in 16:20.99, which was an NCAA B-standard and the second-best time in school history. Piper Wood Prince, meanwhile, came in eighth place (16:49.93).
- In the A-final of the 200 back, Hamlin finished fifth overall and seventh in Harvard history (1:56.91). Hazlett ended the race in seventh with a time of 1:57.64, and Mostek turned in a runner-up performance in the B-final (1:57.30). Addie Rose Bullock won the C-final with a time of 1:58.95.
- Remi Edvalson and Rey Chin competed in the platform diving competition. Edvalson finished in third place with a score of 238.15. Chin, meanwhile, posted the sixth-best effort in the field (189.75).
- Iannaccone posted Harvard's top effort in the finals of the 200 breast. The first-year finished in third place in the B-final after completing the race in 2:15.34. Denisenko, meanwhile, was sixth in the B-final (2:16.19).
- The finals of the 200 fly marked the end of the individual events and Lu finished in sixth place in the A-final with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:58.78. Grace Yoon, competing in the B-final, came in fourth (2:02.71).
- Mostek, Lu, Blythe Wieclawek and Hamlin capped the Crimson's time in Minneapolis with a 3:19.57 performance in the 400 free relay. The quartet finished in sixth place overall and was Harvard's top relay.
