Boston, Mass. - The Harvard Track and Field teams completed day one of competition at both the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite and the B.U. Valentine Invitational.
Anastasia Retsa highlighted the day by improving her previous school record and winning the pole vault in Boston.
Harvard Highlights
• Retsa added a few inches to her previous school record in the pole vault, clearing a new personal best and school record of 4.17m (13' 8.25"). She won the event at the Valentine Invitational as the only vaulter to clear 3.90m and beyond. Her mark of 4.17m would have won the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite as well.

Estel Valeanu won the shot put at the Valentine Invitational, throwing a mark of 13.93m (45' 8.5") to take the gold. She beat the competition by just over a foot of distance.
• Valeanu won her second event of the night in the women's weight throw at the Valentine Invitational, setting a new personal best of 19.08m (62' 7") that bumps her up to number three in the Crimson record books.
• The women's weight throwing team recorded a pair of second place finishes in the open and invite sections at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite.
Stephanie Ratcliffe threw 21.41m (70' 3") in the invite section to take second and
Cara Salsberry threw 18.60m (61' 0.25") in the open section to take second.

The Valentine Invitational and Clemson Tiger Paw Invite will continue tomorrow with day two of competition. Compeition in Boston will start at 9 a.m. with the unseeded heats of the men's 5000m run and competition in Clemson will start at 10 a.m. with field events.
