Harvard Women's Basketball Aims for Sixth Win in a Row at Penn

Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard Women's Basketball team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, Feb. 11 to aim for their sixth win in a row and second win over the Quakers this season. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. and air on ESPN+.

What to Know

• Harvard women's basketball opened the Carrie Moore era this season with 7 nonconference wins and 7 wins through the first half and two additional games in conference play. Saturday will be the third Ivy rematch as the Crimson head to Philadelphia to play Penn.

• Moore is in Year 1 after the retirement of Kathy Delaney-Smith, who was at the helm of the Crimson program for 40 years. Moore was named The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball on April 6, 2022, and arrived in Cambridge after spending the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to a 25-7 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Moore also had assistant-coaching stints at North Carolina, Princeton and Creighton.

 • Lola Mullaney hit the 1000 career points benchmark on Friday night at Yale, surpassing the mark as she made a shot from three. After ending the game at Yale with 1005 career points she went on to score 16 at Brown and currently sits at 1021 points. Mullaney is only the 22nd player in Harvard history to hit this mark and is well on her way to climbing the Harvard record books as she is only in her junior season.

• Sophomores Harmoni Turner and Elena Rodriguez have had career seasons, each reporting career highs in multiple metrics and multiple double doubles throughout conference play.

• Turner started the 2022-23 season with a career high 31 points against URI. She has gone on to report 12 rebounds twice as a new career high, most recently pulling the ball down 12 times at Brown. She also dished out a career high 12 assists the last time the Crimson played Penn on Jan. 28. In another career high this season, she stole the ball from Maine 7 times.

Elena Rodriguez posted her career high points scored in the last game against Penn, putting up 28. She pulled down 14 rebounds and passed off a career high 5 assists at Dartmouth on Jan. 16. Most recently she made a career high 3 blocks at Yale last Saturday.

• The Crimson have multiple Ivy League leaders on the team. Elena Rodriguez leads the league in field goal percentage in all games, shooting 102-for-156 at 65.4%. Lola Mullaney leads the conference in scoring through eight conference games, putting up an average of 19.2 per Ivy League matchup. Harmoni Turner and Elena Rodriguez come in at fifth and sixth in points with 14.8 and 14.0 to give the Crimson three of the top six spots in points scored per conference game.

• Harvard is meeting Ivy League opponent Penn for the 91st time in series history, one in which Harvard leads 55-35. The Crimson and Quakers split the 2021-22 season. Harvard won the first game of the 2022-23 season in Lavietes Pavilion just a few weeks ago by a score of 84-60.

• With a win over Penn on Saturday, Harvard will move to 8-2 in the Ivy League and extend their all-time record against Penn to 56-35. Depending on other league results, Harvard has potential to sit solely in first or tied for first or second in the league.

• Harvard's 2022-23 schedule featured 12 non-conference games before Ivy League play began on Dec. 31 against Princeton. With a 7-2 Ivy record and a 14-7 record overall, Harvard is tied for first in Ivy League standings with Princeton and Columbia.

Up Next

Harvard will return to Lavietes Pavilion after a stretch on the road to host Columbia and Cornell. The game against Columbia will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and will serve as the team's Black History Month celebration. Saturday's game against Cornell will tip off at 5 p.m. and celebrate the Crimson alumni. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
