Radcliffe Lightweight Rowing Opens 2023 Season With Class of 2004 Cup

WASHINGTON, D.C. -Radcliffe lightweight rowing opens its 2023 season this Saturday with the Class of 2004 Cup on the Occoquan River. The Crimson looks to repeat as champions after defeating Georgetown in the season opener last year. Georgetown and Harvard will compete in numerous events as both teams look to win the season opener. 
 
Last season, the Varsity 8+ retained the Class of 2004 Cup by defeating Georgetown by 9 seconds. The Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 4+, Varsity 2x, and Second Varsity 2x also defeated Georgetown in their respective events. 

What to Know

  • Radcliffe finished last season with a 2-2 record. 
  • The Crimson placed third in the 2022 Eastern Sprints and fifth at Nationals. 
  • Radcliffe has an all-time record of 15-4 against Georgetown. 

Next Up 

The Black and White will return to the Charles River next Saturday with a matchup with Princeton for the Class of 1999 Cup. The race will be streamed on ESPN+.
