Stefanoni ’24, Brownell ’20, and Sobhy ’19 Qualify for Pan Am Games as Members of Team USA

CARTAGENA, Colombia – Current Harvard Women's Squash member Marina Stefanoni, and alumni Timmy Brownell '20 and Sabrina Sobhy '19 competed as members of Team USA at the 2023 Pan American Championships.  Following six medals this past weekend, the team qualified for the Santiago Games.

Each of the three Harvard representatives medaled, with the women leading the way with a gold medal and the men finishing third.  Sobhy and Stefanoni helped clinch the team's first place finish with their pair of wins as the team battled No. 2 seeded Canada in the final.  Stefanoni picked up two additional medals throughout the weekend by competing in doubles with Caroline Fouts and by reaching the finals of singles competition.

Brownell helped clinch the men's teams place at the Santiago Games by contributing a win in the team's quarterfinal victory over Mexico.  Teaming up with No. 80 Spencer Lovejoy, Brownell also earned a bronze medal in the double's competition.

The three Crimson athletes and the rest of Team USA will look forward to the Pan American Games and hold to medal for the third consecutive games.
