Men's Water Polo Announces 2023 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's water polo will open the 2023 season with a pair of games at Blodgett Pool on Sept. 2  as part of its 2023 schedule, The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach, Ted Minnis, Announced on Wednesday. The Crimson will play 15 games in Cambridge throughout the 2023 season including big NWPC matchups with rivals Princeton, Brown, and MIT. 
 
Harvard is coming off an impressive 2022 which saw the program finish in third place in the NWPC with a 21-9 record. The 2022 season was highlighted by multiple milestones including, first-year James Rozolis-Hill's remarkable rookie season. The first-year scored 123 goals – shattering the previous single-season goal record. Entering the season Ted Minnis, sits only 24 wins away from his 250th win as head coach of the men's program. 
 
Harvard will open the season with the Bruno Classic from Sept. 2-3. Harvard will face Wagner and Bucknell on Saturday before closing the weekend with McKendree and Pepperdine. 
 
The Crimson then travels to Princeton, New Jersey to face off against George Washington, Bucknell, and Fordham at the Princeton Invite. Harvard will play George Washington and Bucknell as part of a Saturday doubleheader on Sept. 9 before another facing Fordham on Sept.10. Last season, Harvard defeated Fordham in another early season matchup by a score of 15-9. 
 
The Crimson then will play Mercyhurst on Sept.24 at Blodgett Pool before beginning a quick-east coast road trip. 
 
As part of the east coast swing Harvard returns to Princeton for its first matchup with its NWPC rival on Sept. 30. The Crimson will have a Sunday morning tilt with Iona before closing the weekend with LIU on Oct.1.
 
The road trip continues the following weekend as the program heads to MIT on Saturday, Oct. 7 before a quick trip down to Rhode Island to face Brown on Sunday, Oct.8. 
 
Harvard returns home for the first time since Sept. 24 to host the Harvard Invitational on Oct.14-15. The program will play four games over the weekend, beginning with Pomona-Pitzer and UC Merced on Saturday, Oct.14 before closing the weekend with a rematch against George Washington and Wagner on Sunday, Oct.15. 
 
The Crimson then heads to California for the 2023 Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament in Santa Clara, California. The only California trip this season, Harvard opens the tournament with Santa Clara on Friday, Oct. 20 before a Saturday doubleheader against California Baptist and San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 21. The program will close to the annual trip to California with Pacific on Sunday, Oct. 22. Last season both Noah Hodge and James Rozolis-Hill broke program records throughout the Julian Frazier Memorial Tournament. 
 
To close the season, Harvard is home at Blodgett Pool for the next six games beginning with Iona and LIU on Oct. 28. To close the weekend Harvard will face Princeton on Sunday, Oct.29.

Opening the month of November, the Crimson will play its final three games of the regular season against Brown, MIT, and Connecticut College. The program opens the weekend with Brown on Saturday, Nov. 4 before the final doubleheader of the season on Sunday, Nov. 5 against MIT and Conn College.
 
The Crimson will get a week off before hosting the NWPC Playoffs on Nov. 17-19 at Blodgett Pool as Harvard looks to win its fourth NWPC Championship in program history.
