LONDON, England – Radcliffe lightweight rowing had a successful outing on day two of the Henley Women's Regatta on the Thames River in London. The Black and White had all boats advance on Friday in the time trial events setting up multiple events on Saturday. The time trial results were not made public.
On Friday evening, the 2x defeated Kingston Rowing Club by 14 seconds setting up an exciting day two for Radcliffe. The lwt 2 boat defeated Mortlake in the Quarter-Final with a time of 5:48.20 – almost a minute faster than Mortlake. The Black and White will face Cambridge University tomorrow.
The 8+ boat continued the early success after defeating Warwick University in their heat with a time of 5:10.20 in the Colgan Foundation Cup setting up a matchup with Oxford Brookes University. The 8+ narrowly fell to Oxford later in the day.
The varsity four-boat cruised to a victory over Imperial College with a time of 5:27.50 to set up a Sunday race with Newcastle University. Lastly, Radcliffe defeated Birmingham University by five seconds to move on to face D S R V Laga on Sunday.
Overall, the 8+, Lwt 2, varsity four, and 2x will compete on Sunday in their respective brackets.
