Men's Ice Hockey Announces Seven Incoming First-Years in Class of 2027

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's ice hockey program announced the addition of seven first-years to the team from the class of 2027. The Crimson will welcome five forwards and two defensemen, hailing from four states and Canada.
 
Harvard is coming off a successful 2022-23 season, finishing the year at 24-8-2 (18-4-0 ECAC Hockey) recording the second-most wins of any Harvard team since 1994, and the most conference wins since the 1988-89 season. The Crimson earned its 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, its sixth NCAA berth in its last seven completed seasons.
 
Michael Callow l Forward l Boston, Mass. l Muskegon (USHL) l St. Sebastian's School
Played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL during the 2022-23 season, finishing fourth on the team in scoring with 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists) in 61 games…Selected in the 5th round (154th overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks…Previously played for St. Sebastian's where he finished second on the team in scoring with 41 points (26 goals, 15 assists) in 2021-22, leading the team in goal scoring…Also appeared in games with U.S. NTDP U-17 and U-18 teams.

Played for the U.S. National Team Development Program of the USHL during the 2022-23 season, totaling 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists) in 63 games…Selected to the 2023 Biosteel All-American Game…Finished 200th on the final 2023 NHL Central Scouting North American skater rankings list…Helped U.S. win gold at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championships, recording six assists in eight games played.
 
Salvatore Guzzo l Forward l Old Tappan, N.J. l U.S. NTDP U-18 (USHL) l Don Bosco Prep
Played for the U.S. National Team Development Program of the USHL during the 2022-23 season, totaling 29 points (17 goals, 12 assists) in 59 games…Selected to the 2023 Biosteel All-American Game… Finished 196th on the final 2023 NHL Central Scouting North American skater rankings list… Helped U.S. win gold at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championships, recording two goals and two assists in eight games played.
 
David Hejduk l Defense l Parker, Colo. l Wenatchee (BCHL) l Legend HS
Served as alternate captain and a top-pair defenseman for the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL during the 2022-23 season, recording 30 points (five goals, 25 assists) in 53 games as the team's top scoring defenseman… Selected to 2023 BCHL Top Prospects Game….Twin brother of current Harvard sophomore Marek, and son of former NHLer Milan Hejduk.
 
Cam Johnson l Forward l Vancouver, B.C. l Chicago (USHL) l St. George's School
Played for the Chicago Steel of the USHL during the 2022-23 season, recording 25 points (six goals, 19 points) in 62 games…Led Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL) in scoring during 2021-22 season with 65 points (25 goals, 40 assists) in 54 games…Selected to 2022 BCHL Top Prospects Game…Earned Bob Fenton Trophy as Most Sportsmanlike Player in BCHL in 2021-22.
 
Ben MacDonald l Forward l Weston, Mass. l West Kelowna (BCHL) l Noble & Greenough School
Played for the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL during the 2022-23 season, notching 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists) in 52 games, finishing second on the team in goal scoring…Selected in the 3rd round (91st overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Seattle Kraken…Ranked 60th among North American skaters in 2022 NHL Central Scouting North American skater list…Son of Lane MacDonald '89, one of four Harvard players to win the Hobey Baker Award (1989).
 
Matthew Morden l Defense l Hamilton, Ont. l Muskegon (USHL) l St. Andrew's College
Played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL during the 2022-23 season, notching 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 57 games…Played for Team Canada at the 2022 IIHF U-18 World Championships…Selected in the 5th round (131st overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes…Previously attended St. Andrew's College, where he totaled 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 41 contests.
