Women’s Swimming and Diving Captures Ivy Road Win at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving opened the calendar year with a 191-109 Ivy League road victory at Penn Saturday morning. The Crimson improved to 4-1 (4-1 Ivy) following the win, while the Quakers dropped to 3-6 (1-6 Ivy).

How It Happened

  • Diving took centerstage to open the meet and Nina Janmyr emerged victorious in both events. The sophomore earned a score of 298.50, leading a Crimson contingent that claimed the top three spots on the one-meter board. Remi Edvalson (289.35) and Amy Wotovich (288.38) finished in second and third place, respectively.
  • At three meters, Janmyr recorded a winning score of 323.83, ahead of teammates Wotovich (300.45) and Katie Laverty (285.83), who came in second and third.
  • In the first swimming event, Harvard finished 1-2 in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Anya Mostek, Victoria Eisenhauer, Addie Rose Bullock and Mandy Brenner posted a winning time of 1:41.93. Blythe Wieclawek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Abby Carr and Sydney Lu, meanwhile, clocked in at 1:43.83.
  • Penn took four of the next five events, with Mostek wedging a 100-back victory in the middle of the Quaker streak. The sophomore finished in 54.29, more than a second faster than the runner-up from Penn (Kate Levensten – 55.66).
  • Brenner stopped the Penn run by capturing the 50 free in 23.60. The decision spurred a Crimson winning streak with Mostek claiming the 100 free (51.29), followed by Molly Hamlin (200 back – 2:01.06) and Stephanie Iannaccone (200 breast – 2:17.91).
  • Harvard closed the meet with victories in the 100 fly (Isabella Alas – 55.14), 200 IM (Iannaccone – 2:03.71) and 400 free relay (Mostek, Lu, Brenner, Hamlin – 3:24.72) to secure the decision.

The Crimson will hit the road to compete in the annual HYP meet at Princeton, Feb. 2-3.
